Bessancourt is located in the Val d'Oise department, just 6 km from Auvers-sur-Oise, between the Montmorency State Forest and the brand new Maubuisson forest, of which it is the 2nd of the 7 contributing municipalities, and the largest forest planted in France since the 17th century.
Located in the town center, not overlooked and quiet, the house is set back and benefits from double access: a green driveway on one side and a pedestrian cul-de-sac lined with old maple trees on the other.
Built on 600sqm of wooded land, it is the first architect-designed passive house in France designed by the Karawitz agency in 2009. Thanks to its custom-made photovoltaic and thermal panels, which have been particularly integrated. carefully constructed, this positive energy bioclimatic house shines with its high environmental quality and has aroused significant political and media interest in France and abroad under the name 'Bamboo House'. She is notably on the cover of the first book dedicated to passive houses in the world.
Rehabilitated in 2017, after the destruction of its bamboo cladding by a hail storm, it is now more than ever part of the local heritage, thanks to its sculptural and durable roofing in chestnut wood, the first house in France to be so. thus, at the edge of the largest forest of this species in Ile-de-France.
Built mainly of wood, Bavarian spruce for its structure and now Cevennes chestnut for its exterior cladding, built on a crawl space and stilts guaranteeing its perfect stability, the house has a surface area of 160m2.
The living space is divided into an entrance, a large living room opening onto the garden, bringing together a minimalist equipped kitchen, a living room and a dining room and finally a laundry room where the dual flow and thermal power plant integrating a pump is located. to heat.
On the sleeping side upstairs, a cathedral office is next to three bedrooms, each with their own mezzanine, a bathroom and a mirrored shower room. All triple-glazed windows with argon benefit from large movable articulated panels on the south facade, making it possible to manage the light and heat intensity in summer while giving it its unique and atypical personality, thus making it successful in contemporary architecture publications .
In line with the PLU, a workshop project of approximately 65m2 on 3 levels was imagined at the back of the garden, with an ecological swimming pool. Quick access to Paris via the A115, direct to Gare du Nord in 35 minutes via line H. Schools including college and all shops within walking distance.
