At the beginning of the street, directly on the banks of the Teltow Canal, a listed half-timbered shed with a flat pitched roof and plastered, yellow-painted compartments catches the eye. The shed, which is now used to store pleasure boats, only reveals its original purpose when you enter the interior. There are still three narrow tracks in the floor, which, like the entire building, are reminiscent of the former electric towboat operation on the Teltow Canal. The locomotive shed was built in 1905 by Teltowkanal-AG for an electric towboat service set up by Siemens & Halske on the test route from Albrecht's tar furnace to Griebnitzsee. To integrate the locomotive shed into the scenic surroundings, a rural design in half-timbering with boarded gable ends, decorated rafter heads and wooden gates was chosen instead of the usual raw brick construction. The timber framing is plastered and also features decorative arched ends on the long sides. During the last renovation, the yellow paint on the timber frames was renewed, making the shed appear even less like a technical functional building. The property is in a good location near the water. There is direct water access to the Teltow Canal via the bank strip as well as a view of the wooded areas opposite. The property is protected. The property also includes 2 other parcels in the immediate vicinity with approx. 353m² and 521m² respectively.According to § 11 para. 1 DSchG Bln, the appearance of monuments may only be changed, repaired or restored with the approval of the responsible authority (in this case the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district office). In this respect, a binding statement on the type of use (residential/commercial) is only possible after the application for a listed building permit in accordance with Section 11 of the Berlin Monument Protection Act (DSchGBln).
