A stone's throw from Avignon, on the banks of the Sorgue, this place is the result of the rehabilitation of a former industrial wasteland. First used for madder powder, then converted for ramie spinning, the factory was closed in 1954 and partly destroyed. Under the leadership of two women, the buildings covering an area of over 1000m2 have gradually come back to life to become today a major cultural venue in Vaucluse. This incredible place houses a living space, a large reception room, five bedrooms for artists in residence, several work spaces, as well as vast gardens, all punctuated by the song of the river. An association was created to manage the site and host concerts there. The whole respects the spirit of the place, combining metal structures with shed roofs with stone walls pierced with arched windows. The large room of over 400m2, designed for concerts, seminars or exhibitions, is a unique space that facilitates both the reception of the public and interactions with the artists. It can accommodate up to 300 people seated and benefits from ideal acoustics. So much so that the Harmonia Mundi house made it, for a few years, one of its recording locations. The crackling of the wood in the fireplace, which warms the room in winter, and the cicadas that accompany the violinists in summer, create a unique atmosphere. A reception area has been converted into a friendly dining room where artists and the public can meet to chat over a snack before or after the events. The artists benefit from all the necessary comfort to study and record in a rehearsal room located on the same level. To accommodate artists from various backgrounds, five soundproofed rooms have been specially fitted out upstairs, allowing the musicians to rest and revise their scores. A large office serves as a link between the event space and the family sphere, bringing together various everyday or unusual objects. Displayed in this enchanting setting, they acquire a new dimension. From the office, a large private terrace leads directly to the dining room and living room. The open kitchen and high ceilings increase the feeling of space and elegance. Natural light floods the room, coming from a triple exposure, making this space the heart of the home, warmed in winter by a wood stove. This level houses two bedrooms, a bathroom and a dressing room, with the possibility of extending the renovation to the mezzanine to add a third bedroom with its own bathroom. A large library runs along the curved wall that divides these spaces. The property extends over a vast plot of land of more than 7 hectares, including an area dedicated to horses, and a path that leads to a plot of 4 hectares operated by a local farmer. The great secret of the property is the Sorgue, which delimits its land and offers, with its 13-degree waters, a welcome refreshment on hot days, inviting the most daring to take a dip. Although this property was initially renovated for a musical project, it is now ready to embrace a wide range of new creative adventures. Equipped with all the necessary standards and authorizations, this former factory, now renovated, offers a unique setting. With its large parking lot, its carefully designed access for people with reduced mobility, its emergency exits and all the required safety devices, nothing has been left to chance. Everything is in place so that this space continues to resonate, not only to the rhythms of music, but also to bursts of laughter, the soothing murmurs of meditations, the peaceful afternoons of the guests, and the bursts of new artistic creations, or who knows, many other surprises yet to come. This place, both unique and enchanting, is just waiting for your project to light up again and again.
