Imagine stepping into a world where French-Grecian elegance entwines with rustic allure, creating a setting reminiscent of a fairytale. Welcome to 'Mi Besito', a gem tucked away on one of the most revered streets in Colonia Atascadero, a prime neighborhood in San Miguel de Allende.
As you approach, prepare to be captivated by the mature olive trees standing guard at the main entrance. Your eyes are immediately drawn to the majestic cantera door frame, hand-carved and adorned with iron lanterns and a bespoke sculpture of two cherubs—a gentle nod to the European romance infused in the home.
Stepping inside, the grand entrance hallway, reminiscent of the French Renaissance, envelopes you. Its intricate barrel boveda high ceilings create a sense of expanse, while floor-to-ceiling French doors and windows on the left tempt you to a secret garden. Here, a water feature serenades, and every glance is met with luxury and natural light. The pièce de resistance is an immense window at the corridor's end, framing the breathtaking vistas of San Miguel de Allende's iconic landmarks and the sweeping Guanajuato mountain range.
To your right, a cozy reception area beckons. Sink into plush sofas, perhaps with a movie on the television, cleverly hidden within a carved wooden armoire. Pass a quaint office nook, and you'll find the first of three elegant ensuite bedrooms. Wake up to views of La Parroquia, the Convento de las Monjas, and mountain peaks, all while basking under a chandelier's soft glow and skylights.
On the other side of the corridor, a regal living space unfolds. Tastefully decorated with a grand cantera fireplace and a towering boveda ceiling crowned by a skylight dome and hanging chandelier. This light-filled spot is somewhere you'd easily imagine entertaining friends while sipping wine by the fireplace and exchanging stories.
Step out through one of the many French doors onto the large Juliet terrace, evoking hints of a princess tower. Overlooking San Miguel, savor a glass of wine as bougainvillea and moneda plants weave around stone arches and carved balustrades, adding a touch of romance to your tranquil evening.
As you venture to the lower level, each step closer to the window intensifies the pull of San Miguel's landscape. Here, another ensuite guest bedroom promises comfort, while the dining area, adorned with a chandelier and exposed treated beams, sets the stage for memorable meals. Adjacent, the Provençal-inspired fully equipped kitchen, with eggshell blue and creamy white palettes, marble counters, and a kitchen island with handcrafted bespoke storage at its base, is where culinary dreams come alive.
The master suite is a sanctuary with a wooden-carved 4-poster bed with endless windows and French doors that frame the lush gardens (both front and back). A light-filled walk-in closet/vanity area and an ensuite bathroom complete this retreat.
An additional ensuite bedroom just off the kitchen could be used as staff quarters or an ideal work-from-home space, complete with its own private entrance.
Outside, 'Mi Besito' continues to enchant. Connect from the front to the back garden via a wraparound path, ideal for garden soirées. While the front boasts a mature pirul and grill area and a soothing fountain, the back is a green haven, adorned with lavender, bougainvillea, climbing plants, and trees.
Lastly, the location. Situated on a tranquil, exclusive street, you're a mere 15-minute walk (albeit hilly) from San Miguel’s center. Yet, with those hills comes a reward: unparalleled views of San Miguel de Allende.
